Greetings to everyone on the PACCIN forum,

There has been recent communication from American Alliance of Museums (AAM) regarding changes in their professional network. This involves the merging of two groups, the Registrars Committee of the American Alliance of Museums (RC-AAM) and their Art handling, Collections Care and Preparation Network. This new merger will be called “Collections Stewardship”.

I want to make it clear to everyone that PACCIN is no longer a part of AAM. As you know, PACCIN became an independent non profit 501 (c) (3) in 2014. When you become a member of PACCIN you are not joining a network group within AAM, but rather you are joining one of the most active collections care networks in the United States and elsewhere.

Our Programs and Publications speak for themselves. We recently had a very successful Preparators Conference at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth in early April. We are currently looking into future workshops and social events around the country as well as upgrading the website. Meanwhile, our Listserv continues to provide the professional dialogue you have come to expect.

Now is the time to join PACCIN and be a member of the major information network that serves your needs in collections care. If you are a preparator, art handler, or in any other profession involved in collections care, PACCIN is here to represent you and help your professional growth. We are the same group of people that have provided all the PACCIN workshops and conferences from the past, and we are dedicated to providing you with the programs and information network you have always expected from us into the future.

So we congratulate AAM for creating their Collections Stewardship network, and hope they can help advocate the ongoing objectives we all have in improving museum best standards in the “collections care” community.
