The Exhibit Designer/Preparator is a hands-on position involving the management of exhibition design, fabrication and installation of both existing and new exhibitions, annual and project-based budgeting, and sourcing and supervising freelance staff. He/She, in close consultation with the Curators and Registrars, is also responsible for preparator work related to collections management. He/She manages daily activities and maintenance of exhibitions, workshop, shop-related equipment and clean preparatory space, compliant with city, state, and OSHA safety regulations. He/She upholds strict policies for the safe use of tools and equipment, including training and monitoring working environments. He/She manages ongoing inventory of exhibition and preparator supplies and materials to ensure preparedness for exhibition rotations and collections management projects. The position is currently part-time, with the likely potential of becoming a full-time position in FY14.
