A highly trained team of Registrars, Operations, and Sales staff collaborates to execute these exhibits at both collaborator and host institutions. It is a complex and highly rewarding program.

The Registrar will manage object loans comprising up to 5 traveling exhibits. He/she will oversee and advise on all relevant issues concerning his/her shows. The Registrar will be expected to travel domestically and internationally; approximately 20-25% of their time will be spent outside of the office. He/she will provide travel coverage for other shows as needed, will accompany team members on site visits to evaluate potential venues and may be required to train new staff.

The position is responsible for ensuring close relationships with critical partners outside the Office of the Registrar including: museum legal counsel, directors of operations, project managers, sales team members, conservators, curators and collections managers, exhibit designers, security personnel, packing and shipping vendors, lenders, and brokers. The Registrar will be an integral part of the team responsible for enforcing existing policy/procedures and development of new procedures.

The Registrar must be skilled in project management and have excellent interpersonal skills, sound written and oral skills, and a flexible personality. Attention to detail, patience, adaptability, and strong organizational and problem-solving skills are critical.

He/she must be proficient in registrarial skills, particularly:

* Reviewing, creating and maintaining registration records (museum insurance records, facility reports, loan agreements, condition documentation)
* Organizing domestic and international shipments (arranging transport; facilitating customs; applying for import/export permits and immunity from seizure; supervising fine art packers, craters and shippers)
* Creation and management of project budgets and project software
* Relevant legal issues surrounding collections and their display, transport, and storage
* The installation, de-installation, and handling of traveling exhibition loans, involving a range of materials (natural science specimens, anthropological artifacts, library collections, and fine art)

Candidates must have knowledge of museum policies and procedures according to AAM standards and must be familiar with various computer applications [Excel, File Maker Pro, Photoshop]; experience with KeEMu a plus.

At least five to seven years of experience with museum registration, traveling exhibitions and project/staff management is required. While formal training is preferable, experience is a key factor to performing this job. The completion of at least a B.A. is required, although an M.A. in museum's specialty field and/or museum studies is a plus. The Registrar will report directly to the Museum Registrar.
