Julia Latané is Headof Art Preparation and Installation at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). She was previously Head Preparator at The Broad, where she oversaw theinstallation of the inaugural exhibitions, managed construction of thegalleries, collaborated on the development of custom LED gallery lightfixtures, oversaw the design and fabrication of exhibition furniture, and hiredand trained a crew of 18-20 preparators. For over 20 years, Ms. Latané hasbuilt and installed exhibitions in museums and galleries, including the AutryMuseum, Gagosian Gallery, and the Santa Monica Museum of Art. She founded theMuseum of Contemporary Art, Tucson in 1997, served as President of the Boardand curated the inaugural exhibitions. Before working in museums Julia workedin construction and studied sculpture. Julia strives to live by her ideals,taking care of the planet, and empowering people to be their best selves. Sheregularly speaks at conferences and workshops on creating equitable andinclusive work places and on the technical aspects of being an art handler.
