THE ROLE
Under the guidance and direction of the Project Lead, the photographer is responsible for handling and producing high-quality digital images of museum collections.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Under the direction of the Project Lead, Senior Art Handler or Lead Driver, provides professional practices for object care, display, movement, and storage.
• Set up and maintain photo areas including cameras, lights, and object supports
• Using experience and skills, determine appropriate equipment and materials needed to produce high quality digital photographs including the use of cameras, lighting and object supports
• Process digital imaging files for color accuracy, contrast and density. Format images to derivatives for museum databases
• Calibrate and profile studio equipment including cameras, printers, and monitors. Maintain photographic equipment.
• Assist other photographers as needed
• Maintains required paperwork
• Performs work safely in accordance with Artex safety procedures and operates equipment safely
• Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
• 2-4 years’ professional photographic experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of digital photography, scanning and image processing software.
• Working knowledge of lighting equipment and techniques and use of object supports
• Knowledge of museum standards and practices in handling collections
• Understands rudimentary & simple aspects of art handling, packing and storage methods preferred.
• The ability to work collaboratively and follow instructions.
• Detail oriented, self-motivated, and a keen sense of mission.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the ability to navigate within the internet required.

EDUCATION
High School Diploma/GED equivalent or 2-4 years of photographic experience. Must have the ability to work flexible schedules.



LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts both orally and in writing with both internal and external customers. Excellent verbal, telephone and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Comfortable climbing ladders and scaffolding and operating aerial lifts. Willing to operate fork lifts and "stand behind" equipment. Willing to drive vans and trucks and in good physical health with the ability to move swiftly in and out of trucks, as well as lift, push, pull, and support heavy objects, crates, and other sundry items. The ability to dead lift 50 pounds is required.
