Job Summary
The Exhibition Design Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the implementation of exhibition design in the museum galleries while focusing primarily on design drawings, shop drawings, renderings and model making.
The Exhibition Coordinator works closely with Director of Exhibition Design and Production, Manager of Exhibition Design and Production and Manager of Audio Video Installation to understand the needs and requirements of any given exhibition.
Duties and Responsibilites

  • Works closely with Director and Manager of Exhibition Design and Production to implement exhibition design in the museum galleries, whether design is developed in-house or by an outside designer.
  • Work with curatorial staff to determine artworks and exhibition layout
  • Work as a primary draftsman for exhibition design department
  • Work from rough sketches and specifications created by curators and/or outside producers
  • Capable of converting conceptual ideas to design development drawings.
  • Create CAD drawings and other computer renderings to communicate final design plans to all other departments as required.
  • Ability to produce renders, animations or 3D models in order to communicate design ideas
  • Prepare multiple versions of designs for review by engineers and base building architects
  • Specify dimensions, materials, and procedures for new products
  • General understanding of construction technologies
  • Create construction drawings to communicate with Fabrication and Construction team.
  • Work closely with the Fabrication and Construction team to ensure that all design elements are executed according to plan.
  • Manage making of model and maquettes as well as prototypes and mock-ups.
  • Must be familiar with Audio/Video and Lighting systems
  • Must be familiar with building’s HVAC, electrical systems, access points, and load capacity
  • Source materials and services. Obtain and maintain sample libraries.
  • Other duties, as assigned.



Requirements
  • 3-5 years experience in all phases of exhibition design and construction
  • Must have technical drawing skills
  • Proficient in CAD or VectorWorks, Revit, Rhino, Adobe Suite.
  • Experience and ability to produce construction drawings
  • 1-5 years of experience with construction documents for museum projects
  • Excellent rendering/animation skills in Cinema 4D or others
  • Excellent model-making skills.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in a flexible, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with high profile contract designers preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse implementation team is essential.
  • B.A. in architecture, interior design, museum studies or a related field; M.A preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating with multi-disciplinary and multi-skilled project teams in a gallery or museum environment.
