THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Museum Relocation Senior Registrar, the Inventory Specialist will be responsible for inventory activity, and tracking location changes for the artifacts in a major museum collection during a major museum relocation project. The Collections manager will be part of a team ensuring that the intellectual integrity of the museum collection is not compromised during the relocation, and that no artifacts are lost or misplaced during the phases of deinstallation, packing, transportation, and re-installation of the collection.

Duties and responsibilities of the position include:

· Coordinating with videographers documenting the condition of large artifacts and ensuring that the condition documentation is updated in the museum’s TMS database.
· Ensuring that the current condition of all other artifacts in the collection are checked against museum-created condition reports before artifact deinstallation, and that any changes to the condition are noted and communicated to the SI Contract Representative (COTR).
· Ensuring that components of deinstalled and disassembled artifacts are properly catalogued, labeled with unique identification numbers, and entered into the TMS database.
· Ensure that location changes for all artifacts are updated at the end of each work day.

Requirements:
· BA in studio art, museum studies or art related field.
· Must have great attention to detail and previous experience including direct care of museum collections objects.
· Proper object handling skills and experience with collections management databases.
· Prior collections inventory experience.
· Must have the ability to work flexible schedules.
· The ability to lift 30 pounds.
