Preparator

PSAM is seeking an experienced art preparator for an entry-level position fabricating and installing museum exhibits. Responsible for transporting, preparing, and installing/removing art objects; maintaining care of exhibitions and permanent collections; producing graphics and didactic materials; and maintaining storage areas. Participates in the safe transport of art objects including driving, loading, unloading and securing art. Assists in the preparation of galleries and installation of pedestals, Plexiglas tops, platforms, walls and the installation of graphics, title walls, and exhibition labels.

Seeking a team-oriented individual with BA in art, design, or related field or equivalent experience in installation and fabrication of museum exhibits. Good working knowledge of installation methods (mounting, matting, framing) required; woodworking and/or metalworking skills a plus. Knowledge of proper art handling methods. Experience using heavy equipment including scissor-lift, gantry, pallet jack, table lift preferred. Experience driving a truck a plus.
