The Gerald Peters Gallery is seeking an experienced and professional Assistant Registrar. Responsibilities include daily assistance in the preservation, management and tracking of gallery inventory. Position works directly with the art handling team and is directed by the gallery Registrar. Must be well organized, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and self-directed.
Duties Include:

  • Arranging and managing all incoming and out-going domestic and international shipments of art
  • Entering incoming artworks in gallery database
  • Maintaining hardcopy files of all artwork
  • Assistance with collection management and storage



RequirementsSkills and Requirements:

  • Bachelors of Art degree in Museum Studies, Art History or other related area.
  • One year of museum or gallery registration and/or collections management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of collections management practices and procedures including art handling, storage and tracking of objects.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication.
  • Demonstrates ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Strong follow-up skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and self-directed.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office setting, gallery setting and off-site in various client settings.

Physical Requirements:

  • Required to handle and inspect of works of art both 2-D and 3-D
  • Required to be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Required to create written or recorded descriptions of inspected items
