As the Operations Analyst you will understand basic aspects of art handling and installation of artwork in a safe and efficient manner. As the Operations Analyst you will work in coordination with the head of operations and collection management, operations team, registrars, conservators, exhibition designers, and curators, among others, to ensure that objects are safely handled and cared for. In addition, you will manage administrative duties to include reviewing all paperwork, insuring complete and accurate deliveries and maintaining all required paperwork i.e. truck log, top-sheets, bills of jobs in progress and returns reconciled and expense reports with receipts.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operates a company box truck to safely deliver product to customers, loads and unloads trucks. Performs emergency roadside repairs when applicable and/or contacts service vendors when appropriate. Communicates with dispatch via cell phone timely information concerning deliveries
  • Maintains compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
  • Provides friendly, quality professional service to customers always and develops close working relationships
  • Responsible for assisting with the set-up of exhibitions and private viewings. Contribute to the preparation of objects for display. Record the condition in which property is received in, generating reports, and flagging any damage that the property may have.
  • Undertake warehouse and inventory management and oversee and ensure the execution of policies regarding security, handling, movement, and storage of property.
  • Ability to navigate foundational level of email and Microsoft office suite (word, excel, powerpoint). Familiarity or ability to learn data base tracking system (The Museum System) also required.
  • Operates with a risk and control mindset.


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • 2 years of art handling and commercial truck driving experience; required to possess a valid NY State driver license and a clean driving record at the time and duration of employment.
  • Must be willing and capable to work a flexible schedule, available to travel overnight and long distance and work as part of a team and as an individual, good communication skills
  • Ability to resolve routine questions/problems, identify root cause(s) for some problems and ability to follow very detailed instructions and specific protocols to maintain safety of artwork and co-workers
  • Experience in handling art works, knowledge of installation methodologies, art transport, packing/storage. Awareness/understanding of the different handling needs of paintings. Awareness/understanding of supports and frames is a plus
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit, bend, lift, and use hands. Movement may occur in warehouses and offices. Employee will be in truck cab for extended periods and must exhibit physical agility to enter and exit trucks and/or trailers. Employee will be exposed to outside weather conditions on a frequent basis. The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee may perform on an occasional to while performing functions of this job. Ability to physically carry out the work required in lifting/moving artworks
