    2nd PACIN Preparator's Conference

    PACIN Colleagues.
    There has been much talk about the 2nd Preparators Conference starting
    from the time the 1st Preparators Conference ended last August in
    Williamstown. The second Preparators Conference is being scheduled for
    somewhere on the West Coast possibly in Northern California in the Spring
    of 2011.

    The PACIN Programs Committee has been working on the prospective of having
    a 3 day event housed within an university setting so to keep housing and
    catering costs to a minimum. The comments and input from the initial
    conference have been useful to build the second conference into a broader
    and more successful event. This takes time, effort and coordination to
    build on what we learned and is no small task as the 2nd will be larger.

    The main inquiries I have been receiving have been in regard of individuals
    and budget planning of professional development programming within their
    institutions.

    The budget figure we have been telling colleagues to submit is the figure
    of $1000.00. This figure includes registration, travel, food, housing for
    this event in the spring of 2011. This figure is also based on a person
    traveling from the East Coast, of course possibly less from other
    locations.

    We will be discussing this along with other programming activities at our
    PACIN Board Meetings at AAM in LA later this month. Please stay tuned as we
    continue to build this new program.

    Just a quick word on this very, very cool topic.
    Due to input from members about exhibitions schedules accross the country it appears that the time slot utilized for the first Preparators Conference (end of summer) made alot more sense for folks in the Museum end of things.
    In other words please don't freak about getting arrangements made with your institution for spring!
    Details will follow, but the basics (Westcoast venue, $1000 estimated expense) remains the same.
