    Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in responsibility to the GS-9 level in the Federal service OR a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in illustrative design, commercial art, fine arts, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, or other fields related to the position. Specialized experience is exhibition production work involving the construction and installation of exhibition galleries and permanent collection spaces and their components such as partitions, ceilings, panels, cases, pedestals, and architectural elements. Candidates must reflect in their submitted USAJOBS résumés the possession of this specialized experience. If their résumés do not include such specialized experience, they will be ineligible for this position.
    Those applicants who meet the minimum qualification requirements will be evaluated against these factors to determine the best-qualified candidates. Candidates should ensure their résumé and submitted materials clearly demonstrate possession of these factors to receive maximum employment consideration.

    1. Skill in proper interior construction techniques using various types of materials including woods, drywall, plaster, plastics.
    2. Skill in operating various power tools such as table saws, band saws, shapers, routers, joiners, drill presses, mortise and tenon machines, thickness planers, and grinders.
    3. Skill in reading, interpreting and understanding scale detail AutoCAD and/or hand drawings and construction documents.
    4. Skill in working around and/or directly with works of art.



    Physical requirements: The work demands a great deal of manual dexterity, walking and physical work. The incumbent is subject to possible injury due to the use of potentially dangerous equipment. Shop environment can be loud and dusty. Incumbent must stand for long periods of time and work on scaffolds at heights of over 45’ if necessary. The incumbent might have to lift, carry and set up equipment or components for exhibition installation. Overtime is sometimes required to meet deadlines.

    I was fine with this one until I hit the working on scaffolding at heights over 45". That's a tall order...

    Jamie, your post reminded me of the scene in "This is Spinal Tap" where they build "a Stonehenge monument that is in danger of being crushed by a dwarf!" Watch those " vs ' in measurements!
