The position collaborates with the Collection Manager/Registrar on all projects relating to The Permanent Collection of The CU Art Museum and all artworks on loan to and from the museum.
The position is intellectual in nature requiring creative, analytical, evaluative and interpretative thinking in the context of the field. The position entails professional level research and writing; requires self- motivation and calls for collaborative high level decision making. This position works with the Collection Manager/Registrar to develop and author short term and long range planning for the Collection Department. The position works in concert with the Collection Manager/Registrar, Director, Administrators, Exhibition Manager, Preparator, Faculty, Temporary Staff, Student Assistants and Interns, Guest Artists and Guest Curators to facilitate all museum programming.
The skills required are specific to a fine art museum collection and are not generic. Therefore, the position requires a professional in the field with specialized skills and high quality museum experience. The position requires only general supervision and is charged with exercising discretion. The position will establish and communicate the highest level of professional standards for fine art collection care, art handling and research. The position will maintain high functioning work flow through strong communication skills, flexibility and cooperation with other museum staff.
This position, reporting to the Collection Manager/Registrar, assists in the supervision of Student Assistants and Interns and Temporary Aides.
