Located in downtown Miami, FL, HistoryMiami is a well-established history museum with approximately forty full- and part-time employees. A Smithsonian Affiliate, the organization is the premier institution dedicated to gathering, preserving, and celebrating Miami’s history.

We seek an experienced, organized, and energetic professional to manage the logistics of producing exhibitions, including permanent, temporary, and traveling exhibitions. This full-time position reports to the museum’s VP of Curatorial Affairs, and works most closely with the institution’s exhibitions and collections staff, and especially our Museum Designer and preparators.
More specifically, the Exhibitions Manager will:
- Support the VP of Curatorial Affairs in the selection of exhibitions and content development for them;
- Help with exhibition-related budgeting and fundraising efforts such as grant applications;
- Assist with the Museum’s traveling exhibitions program, including the coordination of bookings;
- Assess the institution's current exhibition production process, and help position this process for increased effectiveness;
- Coordinate the production, in particular the design, fabrication, installation, and maintenance, of exhibition projects;
- Work collaboratively with museum staff, outside curators, contractors, and others in completing exhibition work;
- Undertake all tasks in accordance with the museum field’s best practices, and ensure a safe work environment for the exhibition team;
- Represent the institution within the museum field;
- Other duties as assigned by the VP of Curatorial Affairs may be required.

Job RequirementsPosition Specifications:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
- A minimum of three years of experience with coordinating the exhibition production process, especially design, fabrication, installation, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of relevant best practices in the museum field, including those for the proper display of artifacts.
- Experience with carpentry, building materials, etc. is a plus.
- Exceptional organizational, project management, and multitasking skills are essential. Experience must demonstrate successful management of major projects.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, with leadership qualities, required. As is the ability to work with external collaborators, including vendors, in a professional manner.
- Ability to adapt to changing museum needs is expected.
- Knowledge of Spanish is preferable, but not mandatory.
