Registrar position available within the Morris County Park Commission’s Historic Sites Division.

Work Week: This position is 40 hours per week, and is classified as a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed. Incumbent may be expected to work Holidays.

Basic Duties: Maintains complete and accurate electronic and hard copies of all collection records; implements the acquisition and de-acquisition program for the Commission’s historical collections in accordance with Commission policy; coordinates requests for use and/or loan of historic objects and archival materials by staff and the public, performs such tasks as dusting, mopping and vacuuming of designated historic exhibit areas as per the overall maintenance program, monitors environmental conditions of historic areas, as per environmental monitoring program.

Requirements: Graduate of a college or university of recognized standing with a major program of study in history, American studies, museum studies, or related field with graduate study preferred, knowledge of the tools, methods and theories used in collections care management at historic sites and a demonstrated ability to catalog, maintain and evaluate historical collections, ability to understand, follow, and give written and verbal directions, ability to communicate effectively with Park Commission staff and the general public, ability to manage and supervise subordinate personnel, possession of a valid New Jersey Driver’s License. Examination required for this grade.
