U.S.Art, the nation's largest fine art transportation and services company, is hiring a "Crating Supervisor" for our Washington, DC office. This position is ideal for an experienced crater and art handler who is looking to transition to a career track that includes some time working in the office as well as in the shop and out in the field.
The primary duties of this position are to build and prepare fine art shipping crates in our crate shop and to supervise the shop on a day-to-day basis, including scheduling, paperwork and data entry. Other duties will include staffing and leading art handling projects around the DC metro area and around the region. This position will require occasional overnight travel for these projects, and may infrequently require longer trips to staff large projects throughout the country.
Experience as a crew lead on a large art handling projects or as a lead crater or shop foreman is a plus for this job. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are important to this position, as are excellent and communication skills and the ability to dialogue with coworkers and clients. Organizational skills and time management of yourself and others are also important aspects of this job.
