U.S.Art Company, Inc. seeks Art Handlers/Craters to join its regional office in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area.

Employees in this position will share their time between art handling work and crate construction.

Art handlers pack, install and/or deliver all manner of art and artifacts for galleries, collectors and museums. Art handlers must handle objects that are fragile, heavy or both, keep paperwork organized, and put in overtime as necessary. Art handlers will drive 14-22’ straight trucks in the D.C. metro area.

Craters build many styles of wooden shipping crates to various levels of complexity and finish. Craters are required to use shop and bench tools in the production of shipping crates, including a table saw and air tools.

Company-paid travel will be required as needed. Travel varies from overnight trips for regional work to longer trips to staff large art handling projects around the region and country.

Previous art handling and wood shop experience preferred.

Hourly compensation commensurate with experience.

Requirements:

Ability to crouch, bend, climb a ladder and lift 50+ lbs for an extended period of time.

All employees are required to possess or obtain a DOT medical card, which requires completion of a basic physical exam. All employees must pass a pre-employment drug test.
