Operations Manager & Preparator
For our renowned Chelsea gallery client we are seeking an Operations Manager & Preparator. The successful candidate will lead a team of Preparators and Art Handlers in the execution of all exhibitions, client viewings, installations and art fairs and manage on and off-site storage and facilities. Duties include oversee and participate in the installation and de-installation of all exhibitions and art fairs, including lighting, construction, scheduling and all related budgets; oversee and assist with hanging at client locations; supervise team of preparators, art handler, technicians and contractors, assign crews hire temporary staff and monitor performance; creates and updates all best practices and procedures; manages all storage; reviews new materials, methods, products and systems to provide cost-effective, up-to-date solutions; other duties as necessary. The ideal applicant will have 5-7 years’ experience as a Senior Preparator or Operations Manager at a major art gallery with a focus on exhibition planning and excellent team management, communications, organizational and project management skills. Thorough knowledge of current installation practices and hands-on experience with same are essential. BA required. An excellent position for a highly versatile, energetic and team-oriented professional. Salary DOE and excellent benefits.
