ASSISTANT REGISTRAR - RECORDS MANAGEMENT
Assists the Registrar with the maintenance of the Museum’s collection management system. Responsible for the tracking and updating of the data (digital and paper) about the collections of the Corning Museum of Glass. Participates in projects related to the collections management system, coordinates with other departments across the Museum to meet collections data needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists the Registrar with the development and maintenance of policies and procedures and the creation of the necessary documentation for the use of the collections management system.
Assists in the maintenance of the catalog of collection objects, including paper and digital records.
Accurately updates both digital and paper records and generates reports from the collections management system in a timely manner, with special focus on location records.
Ensures data integrity and compliance with data entry standards, continues object record verification, and remains current with data verification of newly acquired objects.
Provides data entry and administrative support for the Collections Management Team and the Curatorial Department.
Assists in maintaining existing content and changes to the Collections Browser portion of the Museum’s website.
Serves as Collections Database (Mimsy)/ Digital Asset Management System (MediaBin) liaison.
Serves as Mimsy liaison for CMoG staff working on object data verification, and assists internal and external customers with data retrieval.
Serves as a team member in projects involving the collections management system and acts as liaison to the Digital Media Department to meet digital content needs
With the Registration staff, performs inventories of objects on display and in storage areas.
With the Registration staff, researches and resolves unfinished past collections projects, with focus on loans.
Couriers objects as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in art history or museum studies required; Master’s degree in museum studies desired.
Minimum two years’ experience in a museum.
Demonstrated competency in collections management databases.
Excellent record-keeping skills, both electronically and on paper.
Ability to complete tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of Museum information.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Ability to represent the Museum in a professional manner.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Flexibility and willingness to travel with objects, if necessary.
