Job Title: Shop Technician, PT
Department: Transportation
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Open Period: October 12, 2015 through November 1, 2015

The essential duties of a Shop Technician is to provide various technical skills and experience to the Crating Department and its regular production of fine art crating.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Operates power tools, pneumatic staplers, nailers, table and radial saws, and band saws to manufacture individually designed crates for the shipping of art.
Assists in designing and calculating the size of the crate for shipping
Creates crate or interior packaging according to design specifications
Fabricates foam & other soft materials to precise measurements
Adjusts fit of crate to provided object dimensions as needed
Operates a sprayer for water based adhesive
Paints crates with roller & brush
Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.


CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience and competencies and attributes as minimum qualifications:

Education and Work Experience
· At least 2 years of fabrication/carpentry experience accompanied by a high school diploma.
· Related experience in the operation of mechanical equipment to build crates or similar products.

Attributes/skills
· Strong knowledge of math – able to calculate figures and amounts using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, proportions, percentages, areas, circumferences, and volumes
· Experience in safely operating power tools

Job specific attributes/skills
· Demonstrated working knowledge of crate building and/or packaging
· Analytical and detail-oriented
· Oral communications skills

COMPENSATION

The compensation package will be commensurate with education and experience.
