This is a non-exempt, full-time position with benefits including health insurance and 401K match. Salary range is $35,000-40,000. Work week is generally Monday through Friday 8AM to 5PM, with exceptions.
Organizational Overview:
The Lakeshore Museum Center, a non-profit organization, located in Muskegon, Michigan is a multi-site museum. The mission of the Lakeshore Museum Center is to preserve and interpret through exhibits, education, and programs, the natural and cultural history of Muskegon County.
Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced, energetic, and collaborative individual who will manage our natural and cultural history collection of 50,000+ items. She/he will report to the Executive Director. Responsibilities include collection care, environmental conditions tracking, records and database management, research, acquisition and deaccessioning processing, exhibit and program support, volunteer and intern supervision, and label and newsletter article writing.
RequirementsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s Degree in Museum Science
Three to five years of paid work experience
Experience with responsibilities listed in position overview
Proven strong organizational and communication skills
Team player attitude
Physical ability to climb ladders, lift, carry and otherwise move up to 20 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to stand, sit, bend, kneel, reach, pull, push and walk throughout the day.
