The Curator of the Visitor Experience is responsible for experiences that connect the art and science content of the Museum’s exhibitions, collections and public programming. This is done physically, socially and intellectually, making the programs accessible and relevant for a wide range of public audiences, with an emphasis on the intergenerational family visitor. This position will coordinate existing learning strategies and implement new forms of engagement, particularly for open-ended, hands-on activities in the Museum’s family galleries and implementation and interpretation of collection displays. This position is a liaison between the Museum’s public and school offerings and works closely with the Director of Interpretation & Museum Curator in fulfilling curatorial duties.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required, with a master’s degree preferred.
Skills: Superior creative thinking abilities; excellent organization and planning skills; superior oral and written communications and research skills; good familiarity with basic art history concepts; interest in science; comfort in interacting with the public.
Prior experience desired: Work in a museum or gallery preferred; work with objects, including handling, displaying and writing interpretation; making and/or teaching in the arts or crafts.
Position open until filled.
Fulltime position with benefits. Some weekend work will be necessary.
