Associate Registrar for Exhibitions

Under the supervision of the Director of Exhibitions & Collections Management, responsible for managing the logistics of borrowed exhibitions as assigned, including travelling exhibitions. May be called upon to assist with other exhibitions as needed. Works closely with the director of the department on all activities related to the planning, managing and execution of exhibitions. Serves as the project manager and registrar for a portfolio of exhibitions and installations, rotations and other special projects in concurrent stages of development. Works closely with internal departments; such as, executive, curatorial, development, education, security, and facilities. Ensures that the highest standards in the safe, professional handling of artworks are followed. Determines insurance requirements for exhibitions. Assists in maintaining the quality and accuracy of object documentation in the collections management system (TMS). Works on special projects, as assigned. Maintains professional relationships within the field.

Minimum Qualifications: B.A. in art history or museum studies preferred; 2 – 3 years’ experience in museum registration and exhibition coordination required; knowledge of exhibition development and management in a museum setting or project management methodologies; knowledge of professionally accepted collections management standards and procedures including art handling and movement; and familiarity with shipping standards and sources. Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft software applications (Word, Outlook and Excel). Experience in collections databases (TMS) a plus.

Excellent communication, organization, time management and project management skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, or independently, with high attention to detail, accuracy and minimal guidance. Must maintain confidentiality and be able to work effectively and simultaneously on multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment. Ability to work nights and weekends, as required, and to travel with exhibitions as courier, as needed.
