We have an opening for a full-time Senior Registrar who will be responsible for ensuring best practices in registration that include exhibition planning, budgets, installation and de-installation (including handling, care, display, safety, conservation and risk mitigation), storage of art, collaboration with preparators, and loan administration. Using leadership, expertise, professional judgment, and transparency in the management and delegation of duties, they will contribute to an open and collaborative culture within the department and the MCA at large.


RequirementsDesired qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in art or art history, at least twelve to fifteen years of registrarial experience required with an emphasis on exhibitions and living artists, and:


Prior experience managing technical aspects of exhibitions including budgeting, information organization, insurance, and de-installation/installation.
Proven ability to work cross-institutionally and supervise exhibition management teams.
Keen understanding of macro issues regarding collection care and maintenance of the collection and experience structuring a correct conservation/treatment response for items identified during inventory.
Expertise with Microsoft office suite and TMS.

This is a full-time position with a schedule of Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm with on-call for emergency purposes and weekends during installations as required. Shall be called upon to act as courier and represent the MCA. Must be able to work long hours in galleries and storage areas with works of art. Examination of art works frequently demands stooping, kneeling, and bending. Close examination of artwork requires good vision. Occasional lifting and moving of artworks as required. Ability to participate in transportation of works of art and withstand various temperatures during outdoor loading and unloading of works of art and the ability to stand for long periods of time required.
