Exhibitions Preparator Stockbridge, MA Norman Rockwell MuseumThe Norman Rockwell Museum is seeking an accomplished Exhibitions Preparator to work on diverse exhibitions and collections initiatives in a dynamic museum environment. The Exhibitions Preparator will be responsible for the matting, framing, mounting, and packing/crating of artworks and objects, and the installation of Museum exhibitions, including permanent collections, changing exhibitions, traveling exhibitions, and Norman Rockwell’s Stockbridge Studio. This experienced individual will install and maintain gallery furnishings, graphics, lighting, and electronic media; work with curatorial staff to establish installation schedules, plans, and layouts; and assist with collections and exhibitions record-keeping and condition reports. In addition, he/she will act as an art courier for loans and traveling exhibitions; provide oversight for art handling by staff and contracted art handlers during the installation and deinstallation process in exhibition and storage spaces; monitor climate conditions; and replenish all necessary equipment and supplies. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a team, familiarity with the use and installation of technology; and a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and three to five years experience are required.
