POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
JobTitle: Shop Supervisor
Department: NY - Crating
FLSAStatus: Non-exempt
The nation’s largest andmost comprehensive service provider to museums, galleries, auction houses andprivate collectors has an immediate opening for a Shop Supervisor. Theessential functions of this position provides supervision of the crate shopdaily mechanics and follow the lead of crating management to ensure appropriatecrating for clients.
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for the daily schedule to ensure all crate jobs are completed and prepared for delivery in a timely manner;
Crate construction;
In-house shop supervision of all construction as well as preparation of crate shop paperwork such as cut sheets, drawings and instructions;
Ensures materials are well stocked for day-to-day crate production by performing weekly inventory;
Maintains general upkeep/repair of shop tools and machinery;
Performs basic training for crate assembly along with general shop and tool safety instructions to shop technicians;
Other relevant duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess the following as minimumqualifications:
Two to four years of college and related experience in crating techniques and archival packing skills;
§ Strongknowledge of math – able to calculate figures and amounts using addition,subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, proportions, percentages,areas, circumferences and volumes;
§ Frequentlylift and/or move up to 75 LBS with or without mechanical assistance;
§ Demonstratedworking knowledge of crate building and/or packing;
§ Demonstratedability to manage people; demonstrated ability to facilitate problemresolution;
§ Excellentoral and written communication skills.
