Contemporary Chelsea gallery seeks full time head preparator to oversee inventory management
Duties include but not limited to:
- Inventory management of onsite and offsite storage facilities including yearly stock check and daily updates to artwork locations
- Manage condition reports and update records for all incoming and outgoing artworks
- Assist Exhibition & Art Fair Preparator and Production Preparator when needed
- Oversee client viewings and manage gallery viewing rooms
- Liaison with sales directors, registrars and owner
- Practice safe art handling procedures and ensure proper packaging and storage of artworks
- Assist additional preparators with gallery maintenance
Candidate must be willing to work overtime during exhibitions and art fairs. Team player needed to work closely with other preparators and gallery staff. Ideal candidate will have at least 5 years gallery experience including art handling, installation, condition reports and inventory management.
Position is full time with benefits after three months of employment. Salary is commensurate with experience. Only candidates with experience will be considered. This is not an entry level position.
