Assistant Registrar
Full-Time, 40 hours per week
To begin immediately
International Arts & Artists, a non-profit visual arts organization seeks a full time Assistant Registrar for its Traveling Exhibitions department. Responsibilities include generating loan agreements, securing certificates of insurance, organization of fine art crating and transportation, courier travel, and handling of artwork. Applicants must be hard working, highly organized and detailed oriented, eager to learn and willing to do extensive travel within the United States and occasionally abroad. Applicants preferred to have a Master’s degree in Art History, Museum Studies, Archaeology or related field, knowledge of current registration practices, and be familiar with collections care and the handling of works of art. Individuals must have attention to detail, the ability to work with tight deadlines, and be resourceful.
Specific Qualifications:


Two years’ experience in all aspects of changing and traveling exhibitions ranging from creating paperwork to storing empty crates.
First-hand experience and knowledge of regulations including CITES, domestic and international U.S. Indemnity, Immunity from Seizure and TSA/CCSF desired.
Thorough knowledge of best registration principles and practices for loans, changing and traveling exhibitions.
Strength and skill in handling, moving, and packing fragile works of art.
Strong interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills; excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to be successful in team-oriented work environment.
Ability to take initiative and work independently
Master’s degree in Art History, Museum Studies, Archaeology or related field
Knowledge of database programs such as FileMaker is desired but not required
Able to lift 30 pounds
