Two-year temporary position at the Registrar's Office of the Yale University Art Gallery. This position will support general duties of the office during a significant collection move to a new storage facility. This position joins a staff of four full-time registrars and one administrative assistant; an additional temporary position will be added in the future for the purpose of the move. We are looking for someone with previous registration experience who is ready to join a fast-paced environment that includes management of activities at two offsite buildings.

Duties:



1. Review and reconcile object lists for collection move.
2. Object inventories, including record reconciliation (paper and electronic [TMS] files).
3. Data entry [TMS], including updating locations (administer barcode scan uploads).
4. Prepare shipping manifests; release and receive shipments between Gallery facilities.
5. Arrange shipments and prepare documentation for gifts and long-term loans.
6. Assist with accessioning.
7. Perform general administrative tasks such as scanning, filing, and copying.
8. Related duties as assigned.


Skills and abilities:


1. Ability to work as a team player in a high volume, multi-tasked, deadline driven environment with a large, diverse team of people.
2. Demonstrated ability to problem solve and exercise independent judgment; ability to work with minimal supervision.
3. Proven record of excellent organizational skills; detail oriented.
4. Ability to concentrate, prioritize work and complete complex data entry accurately; ability to remain focused performing repetitive tasks and to recognize errors.
5. Ability to pay close attention to detail, accuracy with numbers, and to follow a standardized procedure for data entry.

Additional Education and Experience:

1. Experience working in a museum registrar's office.
2. Experience using relational database applications such as The Museum System (TMS), Microsoft word and Excel.
3. Preferred: BA in related subjects such as Art History, Museum Studies, Anthropology, etc; two years of experience working in a
museum registrar's office.
