2019 Preparators Conference Videos
Our first European PACCIN Preparators Conference was held in Amsterdam on April 11-13, 2019. These informative presentations below are provided by a diverse group of art handlers, preparators, collection care managers and specialists, as well as conservators, architects, and engineers. All of them are experts in their specialized fields and are a cross-section of the greater collections care community of Europe and North America. One of the main objectives of this conference was to share and collaborate on a broader, international scale regarding cultural preservation. Our organizing partners: the Stedelijk Museum, Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum shared our vision and passion in organizing this conference and were generous in sharing their wonderful institutions. Out of the 250 people attending the conference, 38% were from North America, 23% from The Netherlands and the remaining 39% came from all over Europe and Asia.
These videos represent most of the presentations from April 12th and 13th. They are not in any particular order other than from which day and location they were made. We also have a few short “Prep” stories and “Quick Tip” videos that we posted earlier. They are the people’s choice so they are included here with this group of videos.
Through the guidance of our previous Programs Chair, Julia Latane, we also have several inspiring presentations here and a panel discussion from the Amsterdam conference on the topics of diversity, equity and inclusion in our field that should encourage everyone on what the future can be.
