Summary:
The Senior Crate Shop Lead collaborates with the Crate Shop Manager to oversee crate shop operations to ensure appropriate crating for customers, supporting the Crate Shop Management and Crozier office staff.

Essential Duties and responsibilities:

  • Monitors the daily schedule to ensure all crate jobs are completed in a timely manner and prepared for outgoing delivery.
  • Actively involved in crate construction on a daily basis.
  • Leads crate shop activities to ensure quality of crating products for customers.
  • Provides technical assistance to resolve potential customer issues.
  • Ensures materials are well stocked for regular crate production.
  • Maintains general upkeep/repair of all shop tools and machinery.
  • Recognizes and escalates scheduling or production problems to the appropriate manager.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
     

Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience and competencies and attributes as minimum qualifications
Education: A minimum of three (3) years of college level studio arts training in sculpture or 2-4 years of related experience in crating techniques and archival packing skills or related discipline preferred.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience (strongly preferred):

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of crate building or packaging.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, proportions, percentages, areas, circumferences, and volumes.
  • Experience in safely operate power tools.
  • Team Player, able to work in a dynamic environment;
  • Pro-active mentality that is comfortable in a results driven workplace.
  • Solid time management and organizational skills.
  • Capable of working well under pressure and able to meet deadlines.
  • Proactively anticipates problems and escalates if outside her/his sphere of influence to appropriate source.
  • May serve as a resource to others in the resolution of questions/problems.
  • High attention to detail along with the ability to multi-task.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the ability to navigate within the internet.
  • Other duties as required.
