Job Posting, Part-time Registrar, Los Angeles, California

Position: part-time, approx 2 days/week or 3 half-days.

Diane Rosenstein Fine Art is a single-owner contemporary art gallery in Los Angeles, CA on Highland in Hollywood. We have approx 6-8 exhibitions annually, and both represent artists and present exhibitions and/or group shows of outside & historical work as well. We currently have a working inventory system (using FileMakerPro), and have a database for a registrar to start with. We currently have several hundred works in inventory, including works in transit etc, and are about to present a mid-career survey of photographs by Marco Breuer.

Required qualifications include a minimum of three years museum and/or fine art gallery registration experience with hands-on knowledge of registration and collections management, conservation, object handling, maintenance, storage of collections, and consignment terms. A bachelor’s degree in an art-related field, art history, or museum studies, required; MFA or MA, preferred. Applicant must have excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask.

• Coordinate domestic and international shipping for all exhibition, client and in-house shipments
• Arrange all shipping documents
• Manage consignment and loan agreements
• Monitor deadlines of consignments and loans to be sure works are returned on time
• Organize and manage on-site and off-site art storage
• Maintain the inventory list of insured artworks.
• Liaise with gallery artists, clients, and shipping agents
• Manage the gallery inventory and database
• Arrange for condition reports
