Job Description

Role Purpose : To register all items in the collection, existing and to be acquired in the future, monitor, plan, take delivery and record the movement of all objects under the Pearl and Jewellery museum custody. Key Accountabilities -
Advisory-

  • Under the Director of the Pearl and Jewellery Museum and the Chief Curator, to:
  • Maintain records of accession, cataloguing, condition and location of objects
  • Organisation of internal, local and overseas movement of objects
  • Organisation of outgoing and incoming loans
  • Registration of new acquisitions
  • Organisation and monitoring of stores, including allocation of storage space


Desired Skills & Experience

Necessary knowledge to be able to do the job.
Degree in a relevant subject - knowledge of basic Art History and – or – Natural History or ethnology is an advantage

  • Fluency in English
  • 2 years experience in museum or gallery operations
  • Experience of database EMU system and or FileMaker
  • Time management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Communication skills
  • Experience of managing staff an advantage
  • Experience of international shipping an advantage
  • Highly organized
  • Punctual attitude
  • An interest in professional development

Education and certification requirements -

  • University degree, Master. In art history is a must

Experience required -

  • 2 years Museum experience including displays and exhibitions
