The afternoon provided two sessions.
Estimating the Weight of an Object
Mike Mitchell, Lead Preparator for Installations at the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, CA
Mike provided a short presentation on basic geometry/calculations for estimating the weight of an artwork. Then the group walk around the museum and sculpture garden to assess various pieces in situ and talk about weights and rigging solutions for them.

Gantry Demo and Hands-on Participation
Luke Boeknke provided a demonstration of picking and flipping a crate, picking and turning asymmetrical or an unusually shaped object using a gantry, chain hoists, and rigging straps. Attendees participated in rigging an object in various ways.
